Purpose. To show success of radiological diagnosis methods such as plain chest film and chest MSCT in artificial pneumothorax efficacy evaluation, which helped us to diagnose pleural adhesions in time, perform thoracocautery and achieve success in treating a patient with destructive pulmonary tuberculosis and HIV infection.

Results. The authors share the experience of treating a patient with drug resistant destructive pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) associated with HIV infection. Complex application of anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy and collapse therapy was of great importance for success.

Methods of radiological diagnostics, especially chest MSCT in position on the abdomen, made it possible to diagnose pleural adhesions in time, perform a videothoracocautery, and achieve a clinical cure for this patient.

Conclusion. Treatment of patients with drug resistant destructive pulmonary TB and HIV infection is very challenging. Treatment combination of anti-tubercular chemotherapy and collapsotherapy is important for success. However, sometimes due to pleuropulmonary adhesions, it is not possible to achieve a uniform concentric collapse of the lung, so and the treatment efficacy reduces significantly.
