Primary solitary plasmacytoma involving the ilium bone in a pregnant woman.

Primary solitary plasmacytoma involving the ilium bone in a pregnant woman.

We describe such a case in a woman at the 19th week of pregnancy, who presented with pain in the left pelvis. MRI of the pelvis demonstrated a large mass with a pathological fracture involving the left ilium. Histopathology demonstrated plasma cell neoplasm. No evidence for additional foci on whole-body MRI and bone marrow aspiration. This was consistent with solitary plasmacytoma of the bone. She was treated with dexamethasone and then underwent an elective Cesarean section at 36 weeks. After delivery, PET/CT with FDG was ordered which showed increased uptake in the tumor involving the left ilium, without additional pathological foci.
